Bordeaux, France – 2009.  All the stars were aligned, the skies opened, and the gods spoke their blessings unto this terroir, creating the most memorable and sanctified crop of grapes the region has seen in decades.  We wait for these special vintages to come, and when they do, I commend those with enough discipline to store these bottles for ages and ages to come.  Some open them now to see their potential and to taste the young fruit in its infancy.  I do both.  This left-bank bordeaux, Château Lilian Ladouys 2009, is a youthful gem for $25 that would rival many top ranking Bordeaux of the same vintage at much higher prices in blind tastings.  It has succulent fruit, laced with rich cherry & plum colors, with both on the nose, and hints of licorice.  The fruit is balanced, and the tannins are well-structured, representing the epic 2009 vintage with grace, complexity, and sophistication.  Drink now and forever hold your peace, or hang on to it for another 10-15 years and watch it develop even further. –JT
